Treatment procedure for
cardiac shock wave therapy (CSWT)

CSWT - Treatment Procedure - Dr. Mayer - Hachenburg

This is how your CSWT treatment will proceed at Schlosspraxen Meyer

Gentle, precise, and predictable

Cardiac shock wave therapy (CSWT) is a purely outpatient, non-invasive procedure that we perform in our practice rooms in a calm, pleasant atmosphere. The aim of the treatment is to promote blood flow to the heart muscle and activate the body's own regeneration processes – without any surgery, anesthesia, or recovery time.

Each treatment is planned individually. Beforehand, we conduct a detailed medical history and diagnosis to accurately assess the blood flow conditions of the heart and identify those areas that can benefit from shock wave therapy.

Before CSWT Treatment - Careful preparation and clear explanation

Before we begin with the cardiac shock wave treatment, we take the time for a personal consultation. During this consultation, we clarify any outstanding questions and explain the exact procedure. No special preparation is necessary on the part of the patient - he or she can eat and drink as usual and engage in all everyday and desired activities beforehand.

During the
Heart Shock Wave Treatment

Precise impulses, relaxed atmosphere

CSWT therapy is performed in a lying position on a comfortable treatment table. A special contact gel is applied to the chest wall to ensure optimal transmission of the shock waves.

A small transducer is then used to direct targeted pulses to the previously determined regions of the heart. The intensity of these pulses is extremely low—they are usually only perceived as a gentle tapping or slight pressure. Our patients are awake throughout the entire treatment, can talk, and can take a break at any time. Many of our patients find CSWT relaxing and painless.

Side effects are very rare. Possible side effects include temporary skin irritation or short-term cardiac arrhythmia.

Session duration

A session usually lasts 20 to 30 minutes

Treatment cycle

Depending on the indication and individual case, between three and nine individual sessions.

Session interval

We determine this individually – from one to three weeks each.

After CSWT Treatment - No restrictions, no downtime for our patients

After the session, our patients can immediately resume their daily activities - driving, working, walking, or exercising as usual is no problem. No recovery time is necessary. Cardiac shock wave therapy works gradually: in the weeks following the completion of the treatment cycle, resilience, blood circulation, and performance can improve progressively. These biological processes take time because the body itself is actively involved. We closely monitor you throughout the entire process and are available at any time to answer your questions.
