Cardiac Shockwave Therapy - CSWT - Indications

Targeted support
for chronic
circulatory disorders of the heart

When medication, stents, or bypasses
are no longer sufficient

Many of our patients already have a long history of heart disease: medication has been exhausted, various procedures have been performed, or are no longer possible for medical reasons. In such cases, CSWT can be a valuable addition. It aims to improve microcirculation in the heart muscle, promote new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis), and modulate inflammatory processes - gently, with minimal pain, and without stress.

Where cardiac shockwave therapy is used

Cardiac shock wave therapy (CSWT) is used wherever blood flow to the heart muscle is restricted and symptoms persist despite optimal standard therapy. It is particularly suitable for patients suffering from angina pectoris, coronary heart disease (CHD), ischemic heart failure, or peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) – i.e., conditions in which certain areas of the heart are not adequately supplied with oxygen and nutrients.

Indications at a glance

Angina Pectoris

Chronic stable angina pectoris with persistent chest pain or exertional dyspnea despite optimal drug therapy

Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary heart disease (CHD) with proven circulatory disorders, especially in areas that can no longer be treated with interventional procedures

PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL OCCLUSIVE DISEASE

Peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) in selected cases – to promote vascular regeneration and blood circulation in the extremities

ISCHEMIC HEART FAILURE

Ischemic heart failure (heart failure due to reduced blood flow) for functional improvement of pumping power and resilience

CSWT application: Your individual assessment at Schlosspraxen Meyer

Whether CSWT therapy is suitable for you always depends on your personal medical history, current findings, and previous therapies. At Schlosspraxen Meyer, comprehensive diagnostics are therefore carried out before each treatment, including imaging procedures and cardiological function analyses.

Our goal is to provide a realistic assessment for each patient - transparent, evidence-based, and without false expectations. CSWT is not a substitute for proven cardiological procedures, but rather a useful addition to them - and can help where conventional therapies reach their limits.
